Service Description
2-day online course 4p to 6:20p online each day plus homework (6 hours of instruction total) We make it fun! Course includes interactive chat discussions, games, and videos Real-world scenarios often call on our children to respond to challenges at home or when they’re out and about. This course teaches the skills needed to stay safe on their own at home, respond to unexpected situations (such as strangers or visitors knocking on the door), give first aid treatment, and call 911. Whether in the community or alone, this course is a must-take if you want your children to have better tools for staying safe. For youth in grades 3 to 5. Course content: Day 1 • How to stay safe on your own when at home • The importance of following rules and being prepared • Building daily routines • Making the right choices • How to do safety checks at home and in the neighbourhood • How to identify poisons • Understanding fire safety • Making healthy food choices • Preventing the spread of germs • Building a first aid kit Day 2 • Check, Call, Care (including phoning 911) • Learning about choking • Learning about asthma and allergies • Taking care of minor cuts and scrapes • What to do for life threatening bleeding • First aid (nosebleeds, bumps, bruises, and burns) • Understanding illness, poisons and insect stings Course take-a-ways : • Red Cross Stay Safe Manual • Red Cross Stay Safe Certificate
Cancellation Policy
We offer both virtual and in-class training. For our virtual classes, we do not offer refunds since course materials are delivered directly to students well in advance of the course date. We would, however, be happy to do a one-time transfer to another class, if requested, at no additional charge to you. For our in-class training, you must email us at least 30 days before the start date of a course to receive a refund of course fees. We will refund your course fee less a $20 administrative fee. If you contact us within 30 days of a course start date, we will be happy to do a one-time transfer to another course date at no additional charge to you. If you do transfer to another course date, you forfeit the right to cancel your registration and receive a refund. There are no refunds or transfers to another course for no-shows.
