Service Description

7 hours of online instruction with breaks We make it fun! Course includes interactive chat discussions, games, and videos Caregiver and first aid skills for youth in Grades 5-8. Participants learn how to manage difficult behaviour, gain essential leadership skills, and discover professional conduct for babysitters. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children. The curriculum is complete with new science about giving appropriate care in the event of an emergency. Course content: • How to be a responsible babysitter and demonstrate leadership • How to make good decisions and manage difficult behaviours • Understanding children's developmental stages and strategies for each stage • How to recognize and prevent unsafe situations, make safe choices, and promote safe behaviours • Children and babies: How to feed, diaper, dress, and play • Check, Call, Care (including phoning 911) • Conscious choking (adult/child/baby/alone) • Introduction to CPR (baby/child) • Asthma (includes use of inhaler and spacer) • Anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen), poisoning and insect stings • Wound care (minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, and burns) • Broken bones, head, neck and back injuries, seizures Course take-a-ways : • Babysitter's Manual • Babysitter Certificate

Cancellation Policy

We offer both virtual and in-class training. For our virtual classes, we do not offer refunds since course materials are delivered directly to students well in advance of the course date. We would, however, be happy to do a one-time transfer to another class, if requested, at no additional charge to you. For our in-class training, you must email us at least 30 days before the start date of a course to receive a refund of course fees. We will refund your course fee less a $20 administrative fee. If you contact us within 30 days of a course start date, we will be happy to do a one-time transfer to another course date at no additional charge to you. If you do transfer to another course date, you forfeit the right to cancel your registration and receive a refund. There are no refunds or transfers to another course for no-shows.
